Guilty Pleasure: American Eagle Favorite T

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

American EagleIt is the little things in life that can make you feel so complete. Or the simple things. Like a clean, soft t-shirt that still is comfy, but nonchalantly sexy. Enter American Eagle deep v-neck t-shirt in all the colors of the rainbow. I have been buying these like they’re going out of style. And I love and live in soft t-shirts, and have fallen hard for these jersey cotton versions from AE. Who would have thought I would be shopping there after high school and college? And despite the term “deep v” it is still work appropriate, but flattering too. What can I say, I just love them. You can try on at your local store or buy online and get some fab discounts. Priced at $15.50, but online has buy one get one half off going on now. Available at American Eagle.

Oscar de la Renta Dresses

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

When does Oscar de la Renta not make a gorgeous dress? I have been into all these gorgeous evening dresses since I have upcoming weddings to attend, and I don’t have any appropriate evening gowns that make me feel stunning. Of course there are the masters of making women evening-ready and Mr. de la Renta is one of them! And the masters don’t come cheap, but just looking at the photos makes me happy and blissful. Net-a-porter carries so many designers and offers some of the best options. They are even carrying the outrageously priced Balmain collection. Way WAY overpriced, even for designer. Would I want to spend 12,000 bucks on a rocker jacket that will be super-ugly in less than a year, or spend a little less and get a masterpiece that will withstand time indefinitely? Yes…exactly. You can purchase the above beaded georgette gown here for $10,950.

And you can get a cute summer lunching dress for $3,690 as well here.

Bottega Veneta Fall 2009

bvfall20091

bvfall20094

I have been lusting for Bottega Veneta lately. Baaaaaad. I don’t know what’s gotten into me, but I want it all: belts, shoes, bags, dresses. Dresses… Tomas Maier can make a dress and the goddess trend (it’s not a trend to me, but a classic) on these dresses just makes a woman’s beauty that much more feminine and gorgeous. You just can’t beat it! And I noticed one bag off the runway that I wouldn’t say no to: the crocodile satchel…drool! So, basically I like where BV is going…keeping women beautiful in subtle colors and sexily draped dresses while being surrounded by a sea of 80’s shoulder pads, neon colors and harem pants. Yuck. That is a trend if I ever saw one. So thank you Bottega Veneta and Tomas Maier for realizing what makes women look their best rather than trying to blind us with acid colors and 80’s throwbacks. Hermes Fall 2009

Hermes Fall 2009

I’m back with a vengeance. I took a little hiatus, and sorry about that! But I have found PLENTY of gorgeous bags and accessories to drool over. And I’m starting with the big kahuna. Jean Paul Gaultier has redone the Hermes birkin in what has become the season trend: trompe l’oeil. Lacking hardware and actual straps, the birkin has become art! I have read a lot of negative thoughts on the new birkin, thinking that it is only for collectors or if you already own an actual birkin, but I actually quite like this! It saves time on closing and opening, and who actually keeps their birkin closed anyway? So, I give this new birkin the thumbs up, I love this one more than the shoulder JPG birkin from a few years back as well. It’s cute but still classic. I mean it’s still a birkin! I’m just holding my breath now on the price. If it’s more expensive than an original birkin, then I would definitely skip this, but either way, I love it. And drool over those crocodile clutches while you’re at it. and the divine clothes…yummy! All photos from style.com

Yves Saint Laurent Off-the-Shoulder Belted Dress

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

YSLSome labels are just that…labels. Other labels are worth it because it isn’t just a cotton t-shirt you are paying hundreds of dollars for, but something that actually is luxurious and well-designed. Case and point: this Yves Saint Laurent belted dress is outrageously gorgeous. The off-the-shoulder look is elegant, and the belted section is a nice surprise. YSL used python on the belted accents. PYTHON! How…luxurious. Of course, you would be the only one that knows that unless someone gets really close to you, but heck, wouldn’t you feel like a star? Isn’t that the point? Why buy designer clothes that don’t make you feel like a princess? Either way, I am all about this beautiful number from the oh-so-coveted house of YSL. Priced at $947.92 and available at Luisa Via Roma. YVES SAINT-LAURENT – OFF THE SHOULDER RIBBED BELTED DRESS

Calvin Klein Collection

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Most of the time I do not appreciate minimalism. I by no means like overly-ornate outfits, but sometimes minimal just bores the hell out of me. Even though Calvin Klein is the master of minimalism, I actually love this Kimber Coat and Elliot Sweater. Very chic and simple, but the white is what makes it clean and interesting. Both are on final sale in a few sizes, the kimber coat is $555. Available at ShopBop. The sweater is here

Ports 1961 Cashmere Dress

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

It seems like everything is in trend right now. Bright neon colors are all over the place, but the irony is that nude is very in right now too, perhaps because nude is very balancing in comparison. But what I love about this nude (malt-colored) Ports 1961 Cashmere Dress is that you can wear bright pops of colors, like a chic handbag or shoes, to make you not so boring. Plus, a soft neutral cashmere dress is the perfect basic and you will be reaching for this dress when you can’t decide what to wear, since it is so easy to dress it way up or be casual with it. Whatever! Of course, a classic cashmere dress is an investment piece (high-quality cashmere will still look brand new even years later, just make sure to hand wash, no dry-cleaning!). Priced at $725. Buy through Shopbop

Jason Wu: You the man!

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

After becoming an overnight sensation when Michelle Obama graced the entire world in that gorgeous ivory dress (that was by far the best that I have seen her yet!), Jason Wu’s designs are in high demand. And who do you expect to help out all the online shoppers of the world when a difficult-to-get uber-famous designer comes out with his Spring 2009 collection? Net-a-porter of course! They just got in several wearable, chic outfits, all for a pretty penny, but at least you will notice that Jason Wu was no doubt meant to be discovered sooner or later.

Now for all the info that you need on these outfits. The woven cotton blazer is here. ($2,080) Dot Print Blouse is here. ($1,510) And the Raw silk shorts are here. ($990)

Cashmere t-shirt ($450). Micro-pleated knee length skirt ($1,635).

Fendi Spring 2009

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Maybe I haven’t been a bag-addict for long enough, but Fendi sure seems to have done a huge makeover for this year. I guess they must have huddled together, deciding how to plan out their brand image through the world-wide recession, and they decided to make beautiful, classic, feminine, practical pieces. And it is not just the bags I am talking about, but their ready-to-wear too. And I am happy as a peach right now. I mean…when Hermes starts trying to pull off the refined cowboy look, you got to find another brand to look up to. So, Fendi, thank you for all the inspiration and hope. :)

Now, this gorgeous silk gazar dress with delicate florals and hidden side pockets is stunning. Demure, but spring-y! And of course I love the Fendi Peekaboo in white patent. Lust! Both the bag and the dress are available at eLuxury. The Fendi Flower Appliqué dress is priced at $1,850.

Did you think my lusting stopped there? Jump for more drool-worthy pieces
